One of the most important parts of having a successful march is having and breaking in the right footwear.  REI has prepared a video that will help you select the right hiking boot.

• A good boot to invest in will cost about $130, but they're durable and can last for well over 100 miles

• You can find a good hiking boot at REI, Dicks Sporting Goods, Sportsman's Wearhouse, and other retailers

• Merrell's, like the Moab 2 Mid, are a reliable and proven boot, but there are other brands that may feel better depending on your feet - try them out

• Be sure to wear thicker socks, like the kind you'll wear on the hike when trying on boots

• What socks should I wear?  A wool blend sock over a liner is recommended - the liner reduces friction and blisters

• Be sure that your toes are not touching the front of your boot.  You'll be going down plenty of hills and that can lead to injuring your toe nails
